Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. |
We met on July 26, 2009. My sister Jennifer had come up for the weekend and we wanted to spend the day on Saylorville Lake. So my cousin Holly called her friend Jake to see if they were out on Nick's boat. Jake wasn't, but said Nick and some other guys were. Jake gave Holly Nick's number, she got a hold of him and we drove out to the lake. He picked us up on the Lakeview boat ramp, said he saw me as they were pulling up, and knew right away I was the one. I knew too right away. We jumped on the boat, and docked, and started talking. The guys had rented a jet ski and borrowed a giant innertube that they pulled behind the jet ski. Jennifer wanted to drive the jet ski, so they let her, and another guy, Evan sat on the back as a spotter. Nick and I were on the innertube together, and Jen took off! We were out in the middle of the lake and were pulled over by the DNR. Nick and I were so far back from the jet ski that we had no idea what was going on, and we couldn't exactly get off the innertube, we were quite far from the shore, so we were stuck. We started talking and got to know each other a little bit. Jen finally came around and said she got a ticket because we had too many people on the innertube. So we had to go back to shore. As we were going back, Nick asked me if we could go out sometime... we did, and it's been love ever since!
Nick proposed to me on Christmas Day, 5 months after we met. We were at his house in the morning opening presents and listening to music. I thought we were finished, but he told me he had one more present, and to close my eyes and stand up. I did, and then our song came on. He told me to open my eyes, and he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I said "yes" right away!
